Little Owls Preschool is a not for profit company which is also a registered charity. Whilst the day to day running of the preschool is the responsibility of our manager and the staff, overall responsibility for the management of the company lies with the Board of Trustees. The trustees are in effect the 'committee', but as such are also charity trustees and company directors.

Board of Trustees
Our governing documents require that 60% of the trustees should be current parents, so it is important that parents realise that the preschool relies on their active support.  You can see our governing documents  in the Policies and Procedures folder kept in the entrance hall at the preschool. Becoming a trustee can be very rewarding as you are able to influence the future of the setting.  If you would like more information on the roles and responsibilities of being a trustee, there is information on the Charity Commission website.
As trustees have overall management responsibility for a childcare setting, each trustee is required to have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Little Owls has two classes of membership.

Family membership is free and is available to parents or carers of children currently attending the preschool.  Although family membership is free, parents must apply to become a member. Application forms are available at the preschool, or you can print out an application form here.

Affiliate membership costs £10 a year and is open to any one who has an interest in the prechool, such as former parents, staff or local people who are interested in the future of the preschool.

Membership, either family or affiliate, entitles the member to a vote at general meetings of the preschool. There is usually one general meeting a year (AGM), but in certain circumstances the preschool can also call special general meetings.

The current trustees of Little Owls are:
