There are often quite a few bugs and colds circulating during the Autumn and Spring terms. With this in mind you may find it useful to look at our prospectus and 'promoting health and hygiene' policy.
Important points to remember:
  • We do not give children non-prescription medicine (such as Calpol). If your child needs this kind of pain relief because of illness, he should probably be at home with you rather than at preschool.
  • We will give children antibiotics where prescribed by a doctor, but you should keep your child at home for the first 48 hours of the course. As well as giving the antibiotics a chance to start working, you will be able to monitor your child for any adverse reaction to the medicine.
  • Sickness and/or diarrhoea - children should not return to preschool until 48 hours after the last bout of sickness or diarrhoea.
  • Any medicines which come into preschool MUST be handed to a member of staff and will be entered into the medications book, which you will be asked to sign.
